Haaaaaallelujah

Wow.

I gave Jamba Juice my 2 week’s notice. I am up at 4:50 am on a Thursday night (because in my head, it can’t be Friday as I have not slept yet…therefore it’s true). The sun is slowly painting the sky light blue and pink, and I have given Jamba Juice my 2 week’s notice.

Yes, I’m happy, but I’m scared. I haven’t found the next great thing, but I do have an opportunity that I’m taking; I just don’t know which one. But first, let’s discuss Jamba Juice:

• Quoted hours/week: “50″
• Actual hours/week: 54-65
• Breakdown for you: 10/11/12/13 hour days
• Real schedule just for this past work week: W 9a-7:30p (which turned into 8:15p), Th off, F off, Sa 6:30a-5:30p (which turned into 7:30p NO BREAK), Su 6:30a-5p (which turned into 7p), M 1p-11p, T 1p-11p
• Actual hours last week: 54
• Ridiculous?: No, it’s redonkulous.
• Required breaks: “30 minute break if you work 6 or more hours, and 10 minutes for every 4 hours”
• Actual breaks: Maybe a 30 minute, but don’t go too far! Your employees may need you!
• Communication practices at Jamba: Chisel and stone. No e-mail, internet, etc. FAX MACHINE.
• Uniform: Hat, Jamba polo
• Employees: Range from ghetto pregnant street trash to ghetto street trash pre-pregnancy…with 2 children already.

So onto my choices for my replacement. First of all, I’ll take anything. Really, I’m looking for 2 things: less hours and less responsibility. Who in their right mind would take a position of LESSER title. I’m not here to Jamba Juice my life away. Entertainment career, HERE I COME.

So let me compare the money makers:

1. Diesel employee: Full time is 34-36 hours/week, insurance is included, base pay is $6/hour + 3% commission (which I’ve confirmed the average being $2000 in sales per week, and I’m an above average person!), folding clothes all day (blah), clothing allowance, trendy, cool, and gay co-workers, 1 hour lunch breaks (AHHHH!), work day only from 9a-10p
2. Rosa Mexicano waiter: Full time is 35-37 hours/week, insurance is unclear at this point, base pay is unclear but after talking with a waiter, he confirms I can for sure make $500 after taxes a week (what I need to maintain my current living), making TIPS (which is da bomb! Let’s not play–I’m sure I can earn tips), high base prices of food (i.e. My friend and I went to “check it out” by me eating and her snacking on my food. Bill? $51), serving customers food (not bad), must wear all black (I can deal, but not ideal), co-workers questionable (I should go meet them), no lunch breaks?, work day probably 11a to 2a–better for entertainment industry

Bottom line: I can make enough money in BOTH! But which to take???
